I remember it was half a year ago when I started to use Evernote. However, at that time I have no idea about how can it be so useful to help my study and life. Until this course, professor systematically introduced that how to use Evernote and how to combine web clipper, Skitch and Evernote, I find it’s really convenient as well as helpful to store my thoughts immediately.
The basic thing I use Evernote is to write down note in class. First I create notes, add tags to them (SU-EDC503-1/2/3/4/5/6/7/8/9), and place them in a notebook. I found I can write down my thoughts, record the discussion, and add a picture to my notes which is so helpful for me to catch up. Sometimes I cannot type so fast, I will just create voice notes from Evernote so that I’ll not forget.
Besides, when I read each books, I will use it to collect my thoughts, reflection and add some related articles or opinion. At that time, I found web clipper is so smart and practical. I can “clip” websites that I have visited. With web clipper, I can simply click the Evernote button on toolbar and the site gets clipped to my Evernote account so that I can store them in my “notebooks”. And all text and images on the website are searchable, if I forget something, it’s easy for me to search through key words.
Evernote have downloaded Evernote in my smartphone so that even I don’t need to bring my laptop, and I can still open my account and add new notes. I can even scan books and paper materials into a pdf version and edit my notes with Skitch so that I don't’t need to carry those heavy books everyday and I can still make comment using my smartphone.Moreover, I think Evernote is helpful to write papers. I can easily search articles, journals and notes I need and I've collected before.
Evernote facilitate me to put my thought, inspiration, idea and memos into only one place. I not only use it as a study tool but also as an entertainment tool which can develop my hobbies. For example, I established a cooking notebook which includes international delicious food, menu, and photos of what I cooked. I also have a sports notebook which includes all kinds of sports introduction, local sports activities and sports celebrities. I have established more than 10 notebooks on my account. Those all were created according to different content and I tag them by different“time+place+topic” so that it can be searched easily.
In the future, when I teach in school, I may use Evernote to:
1. remember each students’name
2. assign homework and share it with students
3. check homework and give feedback to individual students
4. create to-do list and create voice memo in case I will forget something
5. keep note while I have a school meeting or a meeting with parents (take a photo or record)
